FAQ

Do I need to install anything in Nova?

No. Aicerine uses the public Nova and Placement APIs. The Nova weigher is an optional extra for VMs that cannot be live-migrated.

Does Aicerine replace our scheduler?

No. Nova keeps its filters, its weighers and the final selection. Aicerine changes how much each host admits, through its ratio in Placement, and moves VMs by live migration when you allow it.

Will Aicerine migrate VMs without asking?

Only in active, which you set yourself. It starts in observe, where it migrates nothing, and in assisted an operator approves each plan. See Autonomy and control.

How do I stop Aicerine?

Set the emergency stop in the console: no new migration or ratio write starts. Then restore the target ratios with one command. See Rollback.

What happens if the appliance is down?

Nova keeps scheduling with the ratios currently in Placement. No migration starts.

Does Aicerine use an LLM?

Optionally, to explain plans and translate an operator's intent into constraints. It never decides a move, it is off by default, and the product works without it. See The LLM.

How is it different from OpenStack Watcher?

Watcher also rebalances by live migration. Aicerine prices each migration with a cost learned from your own migration records, plans several moves together (such as moving the neighbours of a large VM), replays each plan before running it, and measures steal per VM with its own agent.

Is it a SaaS?

No. The appliance runs on your infrastructure, air-gapped if needed. Only the portal, your account with Aicerine, is hosted at aicerine.com.

Does any data leave our infrastructure?

Not by default. See Security.

Is it better than what we run today?

That is what a pilot measures, on your cloud, against your current operation and simple baselines, on criteria agreed beforehand. We make no claim before that.

Is Aicerine only for OpenStack?

OpenStack Nova is the first platform. Other platforms are part of the vision, with no delivery commitment attached. If you run one, tell us.

Where are the versions, prerequisites and installation guides?

In the technical documentation shared with pilot partners. Join the pilot program to get access.
